This page's purpose? To guide the players, new and old, to what we know to be true. This page is not just to help beginners navigate through the Wiki better, but to also relay information that may be hard to find. This is a must read for all players. Another site of use would be the newbie center in the Within Hubris forums.

General Information for Beginners

Being new to the world of the Haunted Majora's Mask ARG, beginners will find it almost maddening with the wealth of information that has to be processed and thought through. To make things easier, this section with lead you to the pages you need to go, and also give you a wealth of other goodies to help you catch up.

This ARG is divided into three arcs so far; Jadusable Arc, Moon Children/Ryukaki Arc, and the Hubris Arc. Though the first two arcs have ended, they are still important as they may be hiding clues we have missed. The ARG is currently starting on the Hubris Arc.

Now, you need to know the story thus far:

Haunted Cartridge ArcEdit

The events that started this whole ARG. This is more than likely what led you to become a part of all of this. The links to each chapter are below. Please note that these pages are NOT from the original website. They're recreations put together by players after the original pages were taken down when the website went down.

Moon Children/Ryukaki ArcEdit

This is a timeline of events that happened from after TheTruth.rtf was discovered, all the way up to the events of the next arc.

HUBRIS ARCEdit

The arc that we are currently in. Said to be the final arc. All information on it is located in the link above. Any and all help is appreciated.

MOON CHILDRENEdit

This will help you get an understanding of what the Moon Children Cult was and how it worked. There are a few screenshots and information on the inner workings of the cult, as well as a list of who the members were. The page is a work in progress because last October all our information was somehow wiped and we lost it all. Something else tied to the Moon Children that's worth checking out is the Ascension page.

YSHDT.netEdit

The website that started it all: youshouldnthavedonethat.net (usually abbreviated YSHDT.net or just YSHDT) was the home of the Moon Children website for the majority of Arc 2, but was converted to a center for the ARG during the first and second pauses. The players accidentally DDOS'd it and caused it to shut down when they used add-ons that monitored and constantly refreshed the site. It has been down ever since. Prior to early to mid 2011 (the dates differ, as some people experienced it earlier than others) the website used to redirect to the Within Hubris forum, which has become the new center for the ARG. However, it no longer does this and just sits as a held domain.

On March 26th, 2012, the YSHDT.net domain was placed for sale.

FILE 59Edit

This was our last contact with Ifrit, but it is also what started the Ryukaki arc. It may still hide clues that we have yet to discover.

RYUKAKI AND HIS ARCEdit

While being a page for the character himself, this page also has a wealth of information on the Ryukaki part of Arc 2. Ryukaki's YouTube account is now OOC, so unless specified otherwise, all activity from him is out of character and has nothing to do with this ARG.

Please let it be known that Ryukaki's arc is NOT considered direct canon. In July 2011, Alex Hall and the man behind Ryukaki, Kayd Hendricks, got into an argument not long after the ARG was put on perma-hiatus. Alex Hall revealed with screenshots and evidence that Ryukaki was not meant to have his own arc, that it was "gamejacking," and that he had meant to keep the whole incident a secret until long after the ARG was over. Kayd Hendricks fired back with his own evidence and screenshots, claiming that Alex had given him no indication that he was "gamejacking" and had in fact praised his work and encouraged it to continue. The issue was not resolved and players have been given no other definitive information on Ryukaki's role in the story.

Players are left to see the Ryukaki arc as they see fit. Some players choose to continue to include it in the canon. Others choose to consider the arc as side canon - a fun side story but not essential to the rest of the story and Arc 3. Still others choose to forget Ryukaki's arc ever happened and ignore it. No matter what way you see it, please take any information gained from Ryukaki's arc with a grain of salt, as Alex Hall will more than likely change the canon involved in Ryukaki's arc.

Things to Keep in Mind

The ChaptersEdit

Though you read the chapters on the main website, something needs to be made clear. THOSE ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL CHAPTER SUMMARIES. The original text chapters were posted on 4chan's /x/ forums. When they were posted onto the YSHDT website, players began noticing changes, mostly minor. This is all BEN's doing. He tampered with the files, though no one knows for sure why, as they really were not significant enough to really obstruct the reading. You can find a side by side comparison of the different versions here: Tampering of the Chapters. Alternatively, the originals can be found here on the wiki.

TheTruth.rtfEdit

As we said before, the Chapters had been tampered with, and TheTruth.rtf was no exception, though its story is rather different. It was tampered with from the beginning; no original. As you have read, TheTruth.rtf was posted by Jadusable's 'roommate', who was doing it as a favor for Jad. There are many a mistakes and oddly placed sentences, which one would not relate to Jadusable's previous writings.

Then, towards the end, you learn the dark secret; Jadusable clearly states that he lives in a single; no roommate. Soon after TheTruth.rtf was released, free.wmv came to be. BEN tricked us into downloading the content, thus allowing him to spread throughout the internet.

RosaEdit

A year before this ARG even started, Jadusable posted a video from the game Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. The contents were of the character Rosa who could tell the future in cryptic ways. Everything she says eerily relates to things that involve the ARG. In an interview, OOC Jad reveals that he does not remember posting the video, but when he was creating the ARG, he thought it would be neat if he could incorporate what she had said into his story somehow. That way, it was really like she had seen the future. Eventually, she even became a character.

YSHDT.net Hidden FilesEdit

Besides the looks of the website, there are actually hidden files within the inner workings of the website. Wayward HorizonEdit

So, you probably know that on Within Hubris, there is only one canon forum section, and it's a section you can't see unless you log in: it's called Wayward Horizon. It has one sub-section called "???". The area is password protected, and at this current moment in time, we do not have the password nor will we get one until Arc 3 is in full-swing.

Once upon a time, there used to be a number of posts in Wayward Horizon (see the Arc 3 summary for those details). However, there was a hacking on the forum, and the posts were moved out of the section and all over the board. There was "-1" posts in that section because of the mass move; it's a common invisionfree glitch and has been confirmed as non-canon. The mods moved the posts to their mod section where they'll be safe until OOC Jad wants to move them back.

On October 31, 2011, the mods moved the posts back into Wayward Horizon of their own accord and the post count has since been fixed.

Don't listen to Cleverbot!!!Edit

Though Jadusable was able to talk to BEN through Cleverbot, that does not mean that we can. After TheTruth.rtf came out, everyone rushed to Cleverbot to try and talk with BEN. Cleverbot learns from people's responses, and eventually got so overloaded with BEN information, that it can give seemingly intelligent responses. ANYTHING YOU HEAR FROM CLEVERBOT IS NOT RELEVENT!!! Remember, BEN is NOT real.

SONGS/VIDEO RESPONSES DO NOT WORK ANYMORE!Edit

This topic cannot be stressed enough. Songs could only be played during the Moon Children arc, when Alex was still around. After that arc ended and Alex disappeared, song responses have not been accepted. Same with video responses in general. Do not start a theory discussing songs to play, or items to use, as it will not work. PLEASE!!

InterviewsEdit

This particular topic is very important. All the interviews OOC Jadusable has done have revealed a wealth of information, some of which can disprove many theories that people think up. Please base your theories on CORRECT information. If you cannot prove it within ARG canon material, then it is not true. Here is a list of the interviews Jad has done:

GENERAL INFORMATION OF GREAT IMPORTANCEEdit

Many people seem to forget, or twist, the little things that are in certain documents that are of the utmost importance to keep in mind. All of these facts are 100% true, and if you want proof, you can find it in the page given. Many theories can be disproved just with this list;

The Old Man has never been married, nor has he ever had kids, adopted or otherwise. He was also intended to reappear in the story, foreshadowed at in TheTruth.rtf, before the First Pause. (BEN.wmv summary, 4chan Interview, TheTruth.rtf)
Ifrit's real name is Matt Hubris. It was listed as Rodney R. on the Moon Children website, but that was confirmed by OOC Jad to be fake, or to "cover his own ass"; the reason still unknown. (4chan Interview)
The character Jadusable had no connection to the Moon Children whatsoever - whether this means the entire time or prior to obtaining the cartridge is unclear. (4chan Interview, TheTruth.rtf)
The file that led us to Ryukaki (mhftt.txt) contains a larger secret than we know. (Secret.txt)
There is a cipher in File 59 (mhftt.txt) that requires a "certain key" in the third arc to solve it. (2/16/11 Chatango Interview)
It has never been explicitly stated what Rosa's fate was. The only confirmed knowledge is that she disappeared under similar circumstances to Ifrit. (General)
Ifrit's location is also currently unknown. Email communication and the events of the Second Cycle seemed to imply that he was killed, but the revelation of File 59 indicated otherwise. (General, File 59)
Despite being deleted from Jadusable's channel, OOC Jad maintains that Huntyoudown.wmv is still relevant to the story and that the relevance will be seen in the first game of the third arc.
